How Does The Tracking System Work?
Every courier service provider has a different tracking system that they use to facilitate the customer and merchants to know where their order is and the status of the order. Tracking packages involves a huge process of tracing the parcels. It helps to verify the movement of parcels and provide estimated delivery timings, dates, route of the package, delivery status, and other information to the customers.
Once the customer is done with placing the order, the seller manages the packing and storage of the order. The sellers pack the order with a printout of labelling from the courier service provider. After that, the delivery person of courier service providers picks the order from the seller’s warehouse, and the whole process of tracking parcels movement starts.
The first step begins when the seller hands over the product to their courier service provider for shipment; a barcode is generated and attached to it. A barcode is a unique ID or a code with all the details about the parcel, such as pick up and destination details, buyer’s contact details, product name, sellers’ details, and others.
Scanning Bar Code Details- The next step to load the parcel for delivery; the courier company scans the barcode to store this data in the tracking system of that courier company’s panel.
Storing Scanned Data- When the bar code scanning is done, all the relevant information about the parcel is stored in the tracking system, the courier company’s name, product details, customers details, and destination of the parcel for further tracking procedure.
Receiving The Product- Once all the formalities are done, the products are moved to the warehouse nearest to the customer’s location. This warehouse belongs to the courier company.
Re-Scanning The Bar Code- Now, in the new warehouse, the parcel is arranged for rescanning to store the tracking details from there on the website. Now the receiving time and other details are added to the tracking system.
Out For Delivery- Now, the parcel is allotted to the new delivery person, who again scans the product and takes it out for the final delivery to the customer. Now the time left to deliver the article is also added to the tracking system for the buyer’s convenience.
Product Delivery-Now the courier person safely delivers the product to the end-user, and the tracking system is updated with the timing of delivery, who received the product, and everything.
Points To Be Noted-
- At last, there could be a case where the products are undelivered due to some reason. The same reasons are also updated in the tracking system.
- A courier company attempts to deliver the same parcel three times if all three times the products remain non delivery, they did not deliver it without confirmations.
- The courier companies also cross-check with the customers on a call about the un-delivered product and help the customers with their issues and schedule the next date of delivery.
- As soon as the order is placed and ready for dispatch, a unique id called AWB Air waybill number or the order ID is generated for the customers to track all the movement and status of their order.
- The customers can track their order through the AWB number on the panel of the courier company, the link of the panel is provided by the seller in the confirmation email and message.
There Are Multiple Advantages of Tracking System-
- It reduces the risk of the package getting lost or misplaced.
- The customers have an idea about where their product is and keep them stress-free.
- The sellers gain the trust of the customer through transparency of shipment.
- Particular tracking ids help the sellers and courier companies to manage all the parcels and avoid any mishandling.
- The package which is miles away can be tracked with some clicks.
The courier companies‘ tracking system has become extremely advanced and modern in that it causes convenience to the customers and sellers as well, and this moves through a procedure to avoid any discrepancy and mishandling.
