Through roads, many shipments are transported from one place to another. Heavy shipments include two modes which are-

Less than truckload (LTL) – Less than truckload means when a shipment takes some space in the truck. This type of shipment will take the space in the truck, which is enough for your shipment. This is more economical and suitable for the companies. You can easily ship through the Less truckload to save money. However, this type of shipment takes more time to reach its final destination as your shipment is sharing the truck with other shipments, which are needed to be delivered at different destinations.

Full truckload (FTL) – Full truckload means when the truck is completely or half taken by the truck. When your shipment covers the whole space in your truck or half-space in your truck, this type of shipment is not that economical. Also, this type of shipment takes less time to be delivered to the final destination. You can choose this type of shipment when you have a huge parcel delivered to the final destination.

FTL and LTL both type of shipments is promptly used by the companies to deliver their shipments from one place to another.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) VS FTL (Full Truckload)

As LTL and FTL most common modes of moving shipments from one place to another. It is important to understand the basic difference between both types of shipments. So that you can easily understand which model will be most suitable for you-

1. Size- The shipments transported through LTL can weight between 68kg to 6,800kg; you can transfer the shipments under this weight through LTL. At the same time, shipments that weight from 9,072 or more can be transported through FTL shipments.

2. Cost- LTL shipment costs less, as your shipment takes only the space needed for your shipment. FTL shipment is expensive because the whole truck is covered by your shipment only.

3. Time- FTL shipment has a short transportation time because the truck moves directly from one place to another, and your shipment reaches its final destination on time. LTL shipment takes more time to deliver the products as shipment goes to multiple destinations.

4. Security- An FTL shipment takes whole space in the truck also takes less time to deliver, so there are fewer chances of any damage. Also, the LTL shipment is sharing the space with another shipment, and it takes more time to deliver the product. Also, we don’t know better about other shipments, so there is a greater risk of loss and damage in these shipments.

5. Flexibility- If we talk about the flexibility of both types of shipments, then both types are flexible on their parts.
